24 Aug Fun Family Photos at the Paseo Arts District in OKC!
These girls were so sweet during their photo session in the OKC Paseo arts district! Here’s a sneak peek at some of my favorites:
I had the pleasure of photographing the oldest daughter when she was a just a young toddler, and she was just as sweet and cooperative then as she is now.
I tryyyyyy try try not to compare other kids with my own boys when taking photos, but it’s so hard! I’m so used to getting a smile for half a second, then being lightning quick to take the photo before the smile disappears, that I’m legitimately surprised when I ask for a kid to smile and the kid…actually smiles! Usually, with my own boys (particularly the oldest one, who is a teenager…you know how that goes), I have the spend a good amount of time begging, cajoling, taking a few frowny photos, making threats, bargaining, and then finally invoking the names of grandparents to get him to smile for just one or two clicks. Is this similar to the five stages of grief? Let’s call it the countless stages/purgatory of photographing your own kids.
And then I get the opportunity to photograph these lovely families, with their precious kiddos or pets or couples in beautiful spots through the state of Oklahoma. It’s such a treat and honor to capture these memories, whether it’s a new baby, hugging siblings, family photos, an engaged couple, or senior. I enjoy them all and am so happy to catch and return these pieces of their lives and loves. Thank you!
P.S. I’m still not giving up on my boys. Whether they like it or not, that camera is going to be there. My oldest calls me his paparazzi. Yep, that’s about right.
