27 Nov A Hazy Shade of Winter
The day was bitterly cold. The wind was so strong that it practically whipped our words away before they could reach each others’ ears. But this kid was such a good sport that it made it easy to forget the cold and focus instead on how cute he was with our winter photography session.
Let’s face it. Some kids are straight up shy. They want nothing to do with this crazy lady who’s following them around with a camera (yes, that would be me). But it’s okay. I have a soft spot in my heart for the shy kids because I was one, myself.
I’ve mentioned before that the best tactic is to just let them be themselves. Let them be little. I can follow them with my camera, or even keep my distance and zoom in to sneakily capture them while they do their little kid things.
I couldn’t resist. I think this may be my favorite photo of the bunch. I love the skeptical look on his face. Sometimes, I’ll jump up and down and tell silly jokes and make insane noises to entertain the kid or coax a smile out of them… but they’re too smart for that!
Thank you for letting me capture your sweet family with blustery winter photography at Will Rogers Park! It was truly a pleasure (cold weather notwithstanding).
